I can school or re-school your horse or pony.   I am effective at encouraging horses to work in a supple outline, using their engine, into a soft, elastic contact.  I offer flexibility in your requirements and can groom, tack up and un-tack within the time period if needed.

Schooling and training can be flat-work, jumping or problem based.  Do you have a talented horse and want to bring the best out of them or do you have a schoolmaster and not enough time to maintain their training?  These sessions are useful for busy riders who are unable to train their horse's during the week or weekend either regularly or for a one-off session.  For some rider's these sessions offer a way for me to extend on the work we have done during their lessons.

I like to sit down with a client prior to taking on a horse or pony for schooling/training to discuss individual requirements.  It is particulalry useful to have the following details to hand:

Your horse's background:

  • vital statistics (age, height, breed, sex)
  • medical issues (lameness, stiffness, respiratory disorders, foot or leg ailments, teeth problems, back problems)
  • how it is kept (stabled/at grass),
  • fitness level and condition (unfit and not been ridden over winter or overweight due to too much Spring grass!)
  • experience level (youngster, schoolmaster, novice horse, first pony)
  • competition background (never competed, competed at local shows)

Your horse's temperament:

  • laid back gelding
  • stroppy mare
  • flighty youngster
  • naughty pony

What your goals are:

  • to jump a course
  • to go hunting
  • to ride basic lateral movements
  • to to get your horse to respond to your leg aids
